DR. BRANDT’S SHOT CLINIC

Every dog and cat needs to be regularly vaccinated in order to prevent the spread of diseases. Vaccinations don’t guarantee health of course, but they can go a long way in preventing your loved ones from contracting some of the more prolific and/or deadly viruses. Regular De-worming is also imperative. Internal parasites rob your pets’ bodies of vital nutrients and energy, which can weaken their immune system and make them more susceptible to a plethora of other diseases.

It is especially important to get your puppy on a vaccination as soon as possible, because until they are fully vaccinated, they risk getting very ill. The Valley is rampant with a parvovirus, commonly known as Parvo. This virus attacks the intestinal lining of dogs and puppies, giving them diarrhea, making them lethargic, and ultimately causing death. Any puppy not fully vaccinated should be kept at home to be as safe as possible. If they have to go out into public, under no circumstances should they be allowed to walk on the ground, especially in places frequented by dogs like the dog park, or Whitie’s PETS. Please carry them in your arms when you take them to be vaccinated to protect them as much as possible.
