TORTOISES

Tortoises can make great pets. Despite their resilience they they can present a challenge due to their size and dietary requirements. All species have different nutritional requirements, but all of them require a large variety of foods with plenty of roughage. Many species grow to be quite large and must be kept outside in custom built enclosures. Some tortoises even need to hibernate during the winter months. Tortoises also live for a very long time, any where from fifty years to more than one hundred.

There are several different speciesĀ  routinely available in the pet trade. They range anywhere from six to eight inch Russian Tortoises all the way to baby Sulcata Tortoises (like the one pictured above) which can grow to be over two feet in diameter.
